338. "Odd Chicken"

As I venture into the world of cooking I am having a dinner at my place tonight. The guinea pigs will be dining on curried chicken. At this stage, I make no promises about the taste, but this heart proves that this meal will be made with love.

A while after purchasing the ingredients I was speaking with Danielle (from yesterday's post), who frequently translates Hebrew expressions into English - I love when she spoke of someone as an "Odd Chicken".

290. Sufganiyah

Hanukkah, which ends today, celebrates the miracle associated with the temple oil. As a result Jews around the world spend 8 days having an absolute love hate relationship with fried food.

The sufganiyah, which in Israel resembles a regular doughnut, reminds me of when I was young and my family would go to Dunkin' Doughnuts for dinner. My parents would get a dozen doughnuts and every person could choose three. If sufganiyot are related to miracles - it's a miracle I am alive after that!

This heart oozes with sweet love, and will be deeply missed until next year.

While this cookie was actually captured yesterday, I felt that the protest was a more important heart to show.

In love we must learn to compromise. However, if we really love something we do not need to give it up altogether.

I love dessert, and was willing to compromise for this heart - that is why you see it a day later.

19. Tradition, Tradition!

This morning little bodies draped in oversized plastic aprons and chef hats, rolled balls of dough and then pricked their flat creations to prevent the dough from rising. (The whole scene was too cute for words).

This heart loves that the Jewish tradition of eating matzah is being passed over to the next generation.
