325. Hand Painted Hearts for Me

acrylic on canvas, Raanana
Today Perli gave me this original, hand painted work of art - am I the luckiest person?!
Solid, glowing, pulsating, rainbow proud, broken and separate, metalic and protected, each one of these 15 hearts is an absolute treasure, and when put together I am in love!
Thank you Perli for bringing me this gorgeous work of art from South Africa.
Perli's heart would love for others to help with Ezer Mizion http://www.ezermizion.org/
Joel is the artist who created this work.

233. Lightbulb Moment

digital camera, Tel Aviv

Brad had a lightbulb moment and decided to make Aliyah from South Africa!

Since creating this heart for me, Brad has captured many more hearts on his camera - Brad clearly sees the love in Israel - I love that!

205. Poyke

chocolate soufle in poyke, Jaffa
Poyke is a South African pot which cooks on a fire.
This poyke was the largest chocolate soufle I have ever seen. Apparently South Africans in Israel have big, sweet hearts!

194. In Memory of Asaf Ramon

sky, Bournemouthe Airshow UK
My cousin Alex sent me this heart a while back.
Today, as Israel mourns Asaf Ramon, the son of the late Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon, I found this image most appropriate.
This heart in the sky reflects the love we have lost down below.

41. Children's Hearts

detail from 'Night of the Moon', by Hena Khan, illustrated by Julie Paschkis,
Rockville Maryland

My beautiful, intelligent, talented and creative friend Hena is like a sister to me. Our friendship goes back to childhood, and each time we meet up we pick up exactly where we left off. Today she spoiled me with several hearts, but my favorite is found in the book she wrote educating children about the Muslim holiday of Ramadan. This book is beautifully written, and the heart we found perfectly reflects the pure love she poured into this book.

Thank you Hena, I am going to miss you so much!

I recommend you check out http://www.nightofthemoon.com/

Hena works in international public health and feels passionate about mothers2mothers, a program in Southern Africa that supports HIV-positive pregnant women. To find out more check out: http://www.m2m.org/
